Act II Post, Due. By Saturday 11:59pm (May 28th)

Now before you all start panicking about a post being due BY Saturday, I want to remind you that you can do your post BEFORE Saturday. You can post tonight (Thursday) or tomorrow so that you can enjoy your Memorial Day extended (yay!) weekend without having to worry about homework.

I really want to apologize for not being on top of my game. Between not being able to post comments at school and my internet issues at home, I haven’t been able to leave comments to all of you. Teachers also have technological issues you know. So I have been more flexible with your posting dates because of my own personal issues. However, that does not mean I have not read your posts because I have actually read ALL of them and so far so good.

Just keep in mind:

*** Two paragraph minimum for your reflection on Act II. You can certainly write more.
*** Spell-check anyone?
*** If you do a Vlog, you must also have a writing portion to it.

Act II Events (for those of you that have forgotten what happens)

-Nora is paranoid and always thinks that “someone is coming.” Starts talking about leaving her children.

-Nora tries convincing Torvald to give Krogstad a position at the bank. Torvald doesn’t budge and is offended.

-Dr. Rank and Nora flirt (silk stockings). Dr. Rank reveals his love for Nora.

-Krogstad gives Nora no other option and submits the letter to Torvald. (“…thirty-one hours to live.”)

-Nora distracts Torvald so he won’t check his mailbox (Tarantella).

Check my Blog over the weekend if possible for your last post requirements. The requirements for your last post will different.

Enjoy the long weekend and be safe in the sun. Wear your SPF! =D

Act I Post—Due Sunday, May 22nd by 11:59pm

I want to begin by congratulating all the students that took the initiative to Blog on their own about what we have been reading in class. I think we can all agree that it is getting really, REALLY good with all of the Nora /Krogstad/ Torvald/ Dr. Rank drama!

For your Act I post keep in mind that you are NOT writing a summary. Instead you are offering your insight on the characters and plot.

Some questions to keep in mind as you Blog or Vlog:

-+-+- Who do the characters remind me of and why? Can you relate the characters and plot to other characters we studied or other literary works?

-+-+- How do I feel about the interaction between certain characters and what would I do if I were in their situation?

-+-+- What questions can I ask to help my peers engage in a “conversation” about my post?

These questions are only meant to guide you. Your post should not be composed of simple answers to these questions. Take a look at the rubric here so you can view the requirements to become a Platinum Blogger.

Most importantly, have fun reading other Blogs, especially from students in my other periods, and commenting. In addition, write properly (punctuation, spelling, word choice, etc.).

Creativity is welcome! You can try Vlogging (Video Blogging), but a writing portion to the assignment is still required. 2 paragraphs minimum

HAVE FUN! =)

First Post – Due by Sunday, May 15th 11:59pm

What a relief! Blogger is FINALLY working again! Now it is time to get to work…

First, I want to thank you for being patient with me when I was not so patient on Friday. You can never rely on technology 100%. Lesson learned! However, Period 7 did have the privilege of creating their Blog accounts in class. Therefore, I should have everyone's URL already. If not, check the Blog List for Period 7 (it’s on the right side of my Blog and you must scroll down) and if your Blog name/URL is not there, then please email me.

Also, don’t forget to check the last post I wrote (Welcome Class of 2013) for your comment. If your comment was deleted, then please leave me another one.

Now on to your first post…

You can begin your first post by introducing yourself and stating what you have liked the most about our English class this year. Then, I want you to do some research on the author of A Doll's House. Therefore, you need to provide us with some facts on Henrik Ibsen. Explain how you think the title of the play relates to what the play may be about or how it may even relate to the author. This can be done in about two paragraphs. Remember, you MUST use proper grammar and don't forget to use punctuation. Therefore, you may want to type this into Microsoft Word and then just copy and paste. Blogger also has a spell check option if you choose to not use Microsoft Word. Please cite your information because if you do not, then it is plagiarism and you will not receive credit for your work. Simply including the link(s) at the end of your post will do. Also, you are not copying and pasting the information you find. You are paraphrasing!

Want to get creative? Add some pictures and even videos. Just remember that it must be relevant to what you are writing about/dicussing.

We will begin reading the play on Monday.

Have fun! :)

Welcome Class of 2013!!!

I want to welcome you all to my Blog. Feel free to snoop around and get an overall feeling for the Blogging experience. Also, I encourage you to read the posts that I wrote to my students last year and the Blogs that they developed (located on the right side of this page).

You will be receiving more information on Thursday (05/12), and Friday (05/13) you will be setting up your own Blogs. Yay, fun stuff! =)

For now, just leave me a comment on the bottom of this post. Click on "Student Opinions" and say a quick hello to my Blog (and me). However, keep in mind that many people will read this Blog. Therefore, keep it clean and watch the spelling/punctuation.

I'm REALLY excited and I know you are as well (right?!?!) to begin Blogging and bringing our classroom discussions to the World Wide Web.

See you soon on Blogger!

Ms. Santos
